Often times it is beneficial to add 3-Dimension text to a Model, this is most frequently achieved using the Sketch Text Entity
Menu Bar→Tools→Sketch Entities→Text
The text pulls from the Annotations within Document Properties, so if you have multiple areas you'll be adding text, you'll want to customize the Font there
You'll first be prompted to select a Curve for the Text to follow. This is most often a straight horizontal line, but sometimes you'll require curves
Type your desired text into the Text field and if your Curves field is populated, you should see a Preview of the text
Most simple fonts can be extruded or cut, but more elaborate fonts may cause issues due to overlapping regions
Flip the text orientation/direction as required
If you don't want to Cut or Extrude your text, but instead want to simply break up a flat surface, use the Split Line command
Insert→Curve→Split Line→Projection→Select Sketch + Face→Check-it-Out
Wrap can be used to unformly apply text or other shapes on non-planar faces
This does not modify the topology of the model but instead applies a graphical file to a surface.
Not that the graphical file must now accompany the model otherwise the appearance may not display for other users.
