In addition to sketching entities, you may modify them with a variety of tools
This introduction course will only skim a few of these tools:
MIRROR
TRIM/EXTEND
FILLET
OFFSET/CONVERT
MOVE/ROTATE
LMB Mirror→Select the desired Entities→LMB Mirror Selection Box→Select Centerline→Check-it-Out
NOTE: Often you'll want your Mirror-about-Line to be Construction Geometry
First sketch your Symmetry Line (Usually a Construction Line)
Menu Bar→Tools→Sketch Tools→Dynamic Mirror→LMB Centerline→Sketch Entities
NOTE: Make sure you get the "=" symbols on the centerline, this indicates Dynamic Mirror
To follow along, download TRIM/EXTEND.SLDPRT HERE
Super-useful for cleaning up Sketches
Trim Closest - Cuts to the nearest intersection with a LMB (Click)
Power Trim (Lightsaber) - Continuously cuts through multiple Entities
Hold LMB→Drag across Entities
Extend will attempt to attach your entities to the next intersection
LMB Extend→LMB Entity on edge, nearest to the side you'd like to extend to
If there's nothing that an Extended Entity would intersect, you may receive an Error
Menu Bar→Tools→Sketch Tools→Trim→Power Trim
NOTE: Drag over the Red Dot to undo
Trim to Closest→LMB Entity
Arcs cannot be Extended fully
Use the Trim to Simplify your Sketch Entities
Offset→Select Entities→Enter Distance→Check-it-Out
Use options to:
You may Reverse the direction or go both directions with Bi-Directional
You may select the entire Chain by selecting only a single Entity
If you do not select the entire Chain, you may "Cap Ends" which will turn it into a rectangular or slot-like chain
Convert Entities to Construction automatically
NOTE: While playing around with this, you can RMB an entity→Select Chain→Delete
If you have prior geometry, let's say your first Extrusion, you can offset the profile or Edges by 0 AKA Convert Entities
This is useful if you'd like to reuse geometry
Sometimes it's difficult to see Converted Edges
Menu Bar→Tools→Sketch Tools→Fillet→Select Corner Vertices→Type in Radius→Check-it-Out
Menu Bar→Tools→Sketch Tools→Chamfer→Select Vertices→Enter Dimensions/Angle→Check-it-Out
NOTE: This is not very useful and should be avoided
Rarely used, but useful when needed
Move→Usually Keep Relations, From/To→Select Entities→LMB Start Point→LMB Anchor Point
Rarely used, but useful when needed
Rotate→Usually Keep Relations→Select Entities→LMB Start Point→Rotate Selector or Enter Angle→Check-it-Out
